Support Through Pregnancy, Postpartum & Motherhood
Pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood can bring changes you weren’t expecting. You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or unsure why this transition feels so difficult. Therapy offers a supportive space to make sense of what you’re experiencing and begin feeling more like yourself again.
Motherhood Can Feel Different Than You Expected
Maybe you expected this time in your life to feel joyful, but instead you feel anxious, overwhelmed, irritable, or unlike yourself.
Your mind may constantly jump to everything that could go wrong. You may find yourself checking, seeking reassurance, or struggling with frightening intrusive thoughts that don’t reflect what you actually want.
You might love your baby deeply and still miss who you were before becoming a mother. You may feel touched out, exhausted, disconnected from your partner, or guilty for needing time to yourself.
You can love your child and still struggle with motherhood. Both can be true.
When It Feels Like More Than an Adjustment
-
Sometimes the transition to motherhood brings more than stress or exhaustion. Persistent sadness, anxiety, irritability, guilt, feeling disconnected, or simply not feeling like yourself can make everyday life feel overwhelming. Therapy offers a supportive place to understand what you’re experiencing and begin feeling more grounded and connected again.

A difficult pregnancy, delivery, emergency C-section, NICU stay, pregnancy loss, or other frightening experience can stay with you long after the event is over. You may replay what happened, avoid reminders, feel on edge, or struggle with feelings of fear, anger, grief, or loss of control. Therapy can help you process what happened and move forward at your own pace.
-
EMDR can be used to help process distressing memories and experiences that continue to feel unresolved. When appropriate, we can incorporate EMDR into therapy to help reduce the emotional intensity connected to difficult pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or other experiences.
Finding Yourself in Motherhood
Motherhood can change more than your daily routine. Your relationships, identity, priorities, boundaries, and sense of yourself may all feel different. Returning to work, balancing the mental load, navigating changes with your partner, or simply trying to make room for your own needs can feel complicated.
Therapy can give you space to explore who you are now—not just as a mother, but as a whole person—and help you move through this season with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
